The 2nd Annual Symposium for the Prevention of School Violence was held at the Denver Campus of Johnson & Wales University. The Symposium was another success, bringing law enforcement, parents, educators and school administrators together in a central location. The Symposium was kicked off by an address from Colorado Senator Tom Wiens (R), Foundation President Joseph Gargan, Johnson & Wales University Denver Campus President Bette Matkowski and Denver City Councilwoman Marcia Johnson.

 

Symposium presenters included renowned behavioral psychologist John Nicoletti, the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office; Nancy Reed, MBA; Rick Phillips, MS Ed.; Susan Payne; Sam Adair; CPP; Deanna Erstad and Patrick Hobby.

 

The Foundation Board is presently working on compiling results from the Symposium and they will be made available in the form of a white paper upon their completion. Please routinely check back for updates.

The Website has been refreshed and updates from the 2008 Symposium have been posted. You may now view Break-Out Presentations as well as sponsor and vendor websites/advertisements. Please keep checking back for updates regarding the White paper summarizing symposium findings. The board expects it to be completed in late May or early June. Photos from the 2008 Symposium are also still pending, please check back in the next week for updated photos.
